Elluminate is a learning solution to provide online collaboration for you and your students. Elluminate gives you tools, such as video, audio, whiteboard, and record capabilities to extend the classroom beyond your four walls. Some possible uses:

  • Easily create peer groups from across the world or down the hall.
  • Establish online tutoring sessions for students who need that extra push
  • Take students on a virtual field trip by connecting with a remote location
  • Create tutorials for students to access when not in class

What I like about Elluminate is that they will give you a FREE license, called the vRoom, in which you can host unlimited collaborative sessions with up to three participants. This will give you a chance to try the product without being rushed to complete it within a 30 day time period, as most vendors provide.

What do you get with vRoom? Here are the features:

  • Two-way audio
  • Interactive whiteboard
  • Direct messaging
  • Application sharing
  • File transfer
  • Synchronized web tour
  • Live webcam
  • Breakout rooms
Elluminate has partnered with the main Learning Management System (LMS) players, like Blackboard, Sakai, and Moodle, to provide seamless integration within the respective educational environments.

I have “stumbled upon” a great tool for learning all about what the internet has to offer.

StumbleUpon is a browser tollbar add-on which takes you to random sites, that you can rate “Like It” or “Don’t Like”. As you rate sites, your stumbles will be tailored to your interests, from politics to online games, humor to music. You can stumble within a certain website, like The Onion, or just meander through the many halls of the web. You can create a community of stumblers to share your finds.

This is a nice tool find some sites that you would normally not be aware of with a general search engine. I am using it in conjuction with PMOG to create missions and portals.
